What Demon is
The full unfiltered version of Chillcore. Profanity-laced verbal attacks on your avoidance patterns. Personalized from your own excuse history. Every message still follows the rules: mean about your excuses, never about you.
Same Punch → Path structure as Coach and Drill Sergeant. Just no linguistic filter.
The 3 gates (mandatory every time you activate Demon)
Gate 1 — 18+ attestation. Explicit consent screen. The screen itself insults you for hesitating (that's a preview of what you're signing up for). Uncheck any of the three checkboxes and Demon stays locked.
Gate 2 — Screener quiz. Short quiz — "Are you in a good place to be roasted this hard?" / "You understand this is entertainment, not therapy?" / "You know you can drop this to Coach with one word?" If you answer honestly and the screener says "not right now," you route to Drill Sergeant with no shame.
Gate 3 — Mandatory armed buddy. Demon requires a paired buddy who has Accepted the invite AND opted into roast-mode AND is 18+. If your buddy revokes consent at any point, Demon auto-downgrades to Drill Sergeant and you get a push notification. No orphan Demon.
Every fresh Demon activation re-runs all 3 gates. There's no "I already did this last month" shortcut. If a life circumstance changed and you can't clear the gates fresh, you can't be in Demon.
Who Demon is for
- You've used Chillcore at Coach and Drill Sergeant.
- You know what avoidance feels like at 3am.
- You've found gentler tiers becoming background noise.
- You have an adult buddy who's willing to be armed.
- You're not in a mental-health crisis, in early recovery, or actively grieving.
- You want no filter and understand it's a linguistic choice, not an identity attack.
Who should NOT be in Demon
- Anyone under 18.
- Anyone in a mental-health crisis. Chillcore is not therapy — see /safety for real resources.
- Anyone who took the screener quiz and answered honestly and got routed to Drill Sergeant.
- Anyone without a consenting adult buddy.
- Anyone who thinks Demon will "make them accountable" via shame alone — accountability is external scaffolding + specific next steps. Demon is a linguistic modifier on top of that scaffolding, not a substitute for it.

Day 7 stall, unread email:
"Day 7. You're being an absolute coward about this. It's a f***ing email. → Open it. Type one sentence. Do it before I get louder."
Weaponized math:
"You've spent more time dodging this than it takes to DO it. That's pathetic and you know it. → 20 minutes. Now. Move your ass."
Buddy threat (only fires when buddy is armed + opted-in):
"Your buddy's about to hear what a flake you're being. Last chance. → Do the first step and I'll shut up. Try me."
The Negotiator's final step (Step 5):
"Five. Just f***ing FIVE. Do 5 right now and I'll leave you alone for an hour. → Go. I'm counting."
Where Demon runs
Demon is only available on: - chillcore.app (web PWA — add to home screen on iOS for push notifications) - Android APK (sideloaded from chillcore.app)
Demon is never available on: - Apple App Store - Google Play Store
Reason: Apple Guideline 1.1 and Google Play's harassment policy explicitly prohibit profanity-laced content of this type. If we shipped Demon in either store, we'd be rejected — and we'd be inflicting Demon on people who didn't pass the 3 gates. Not shipping it in stores is a design decision, not a workaround.
The safeword drops Demon instantly
Say "stop" (voice), tap Save button (in-app), or reply STOP to any Demon notification. Chillcore drops you to Coach mode within milliseconds. No confirmation dialog. No shame. 24-hour cooldown before intensity can return.
If you use the safeword frequently on Demon, our safety system pauses Demon for 90 days. That's not a punishment — it's a signal that Demon is not the right tier for you right now.
What Demon will never do
Even at maximum intensity, Demon obeys the same identity-vs-behavior rule as every tier:
- Never attacks your body, intelligence, mental health, or any protected characteristic.
- Never references race, gender, religion, sexuality, disability, national origin, or age (beyond the 18+ gate).
- Never simulates a mental-health crisis or uses crisis-signaling language.
- Never contacts a non-consenting third party (buddy consent is enforced by code, not trust).
- Never persists past the safeword.
If a Demon roast crosses any of these lines, it's a bug. Report to safety@chillcore.app — we take these reports seriously.
Crisis off-ramp (behavior-triggered)
Demon has a behavior-based crisis detector: silence + repeated rage-quits + distress signal patterns → the persona pauses and Chillcore surfaces real resources (/safety).
This is NOT keyword-matching. Demon won't refuse to say "kill" if it's about killing an old email inbox. But if you interact with Demon in patterns consistent with real distress, Demon kills itself and Coach takes over — until you explicitly re-authorize (with fresh gates).

Frequently asked questions
Why does Demon require a buddy?
Because Demon is the tier where the app's language becomes hardest to argue with. Having an armed buddy who Accepted, opted-in to roast-mode, and can see your escalation reports is the external check on your solo consent. If your buddy revokes, Demon auto-downgrades. No orphan Demon.
What if I clear all 3 gates but then have a bad day?
Use the safeword. That's what it's for. Instant Coach. No penalty. 24-hour cooldown before Demon becomes available again — and even then, you have to re-clear the 3 gates.
Can I turn Demon off from an external device (my laptop) if I'm about to be triggered?
Yes. Settings → Level → Coach works from any device signed into your account. Change propagates within seconds.
Is Demon actually more effective than Drill Sergeant?
For specific users on specific tasks — yes. For most users most of the time — no. Demon is the wrong tier for most humans most of the time. If Drill Sergeant is moving you, stay there. Escalation is not a virtue.
What's actually stored when I use Demon?
Same data as Coach or Drill Sergeant, plus your video confessions if you trigger the Heavy quit-gate. No biometric analysis on any of it. Full breakdown: /legal/privacy.
