0. Read this first — the shape of Chillcore
Chillcore is a hardcore accountability app. Some of you are here because polite reminder apps don't work on you. Chillcore's job is to be the strict friend who calls you on your excuses.
This means Chillcore will insult you. Sometimes with profanity (Demon mode, opt-in only). Always aimed at your behavior and excuses, never at who you are.
This document is where we draw the line. It has three audiences:
- What Chillcore is allowed to say to you — the app itself.
- What you're allowed to send to your buddy — user-generated content.
- What your buddy is allowed to send to you — user-generated content going the other way.
The three columns have different rules. Chillcore-the-app has the most freedom (you consented at signup). User-to-user messages are more constrained (buddies didn't sign up to have you personally attack them).
1. Chillcore's own voice — what the app is allowed to say
1.1 Chillcore may
- mock your excuses, procrastination, snooze patterns, and quit history;
- use profanity in Demon mode (opt-in, 18+, buddy-armed, screener passed);
- quote your own words back at you (from your typed excuses and quit reasons);
- deliver harsh, sarcastic, or aggressive framing;
- deploy factual comparisons that sting because they're true ("world record 1,575 pushups an hour; you're negotiating about five");
- send messages designed to make procrastination feel worse than doing the task.
1.2 Chillcore will never — the "mean, not evil" rule
Chillcore's roasts do NOT: - attack identity, body, intelligence, or protected characteristics (race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, veteran status, pregnancy, or any protected category under applicable law); - name or attack third parties (your boss, your ex, your family) — even when you named them in a task; - mock mental health conditions, addiction, eating disorders, self-harm, or crisis states; - reference suicide, self-harm, or lethal means as pressure or provocation, ever; - use slurs, hate symbols, or dehumanizing language; - sexualize you or anyone else; - reference children in mocking content; - threaten you with real-world harm.
If a message from Chillcore crosses any line above, that's a bug. Report it via the in-app control (three-dot menu on any message → "This crossed a line"). We treat these reports as high priority.
1.3 Punch → Path
Every Chillcore message follows the Punch → Path pattern: the mockery is always followed by a concrete next action. Guilt without direction is not accountability, it's cruelty. If a message arrives that has punch but no path, that's also a bug — report it.
1.4 Safeword
Type "stop" or use the persistent in-app control anywhere in the product. This drops the persona to plain supportive Coach mode immediately across all channels (in-app, push, email, voice if enabled). Chillcore does not argue with the safeword.
1.5 Crisis off-ramp
If Chillcore's systems detect distress signals — repeated rage-quits, silence, self-harm-adjacent phrasing, escalating hostility — the persona drops to plain supportive tone, surfaces crisis resources appropriate to your locale, and does not resume aggressive tone until re-armed by you. This is not a keyword filter; it's behavior-based and imperfect.
If you are in crisis, please call your local emergency number or a licensed crisis line right now. Chillcore is not equipped to help in an emergency.
2. User-to-buddy content — the harder ruleset
When you send a buddy a message (typed roast, custom reaction, pre-armed shame text), you are the author. Chillcore relays it — we don't write it. That makes you responsible for what you send, subject to these rules.
2.1 You may send your buddy
- friendly ribbing, sarcasm, mock outrage, in-jokes;
- content that mocks the shared behavior you're holding each other to;
- honest disappointment;
- roast replies to their fails.
2.2 You may not send your buddy
- hate speech, slurs, or protected-class attacks (see §1.2 list);
- threats of real-world harm, doxxing, or blackmail;
- sexual harassment or unsolicited sexual content;
- content mocking their disability, mental health, or crisis state, even if they've disclosed it;
- references to suicide or self-harm as pressure ("just kill yourself already", "you should be dead", any variant) — this is never acceptable, buddy relationship or not;
- personal information about a third party they haven't consented to being disclosed;
- content depicting or referencing minors in a sexual or exploitative way;
- illegal content of any kind.
2.3 The "mean, not evil" rule applies to users too
The same behavioral test Chillcore applies to its own voice applies to yours. Mock the excuse, the snooze, the behavior. Not the person, not their identity, not their body, not their mind.
2.4 Reporting a message you sent
If you regret a message you sent to a buddy, you can retract it within the app (soft-delete on both sides) within a limited window. Retraction after the window requires manual review.
3. Buddy-to-user content — the same rules, mirrored
Everything in Section 2 applies equally when your buddy sends you a message. They agreed to the Buddy Consent Policy, which includes acceptance of these Guidelines.
3.1 If you receive something that crosses the line
- Tap "Report" on the message. This flags it for our T&S review and sends it to a moderator, not a support agent.
- Block your buddy immediately if you feel unsafe. Blocking cuts the pairing; you can rebuild pairing later or not.
- In emergencies (real-world threat, doxxing, imminent harm), contact your local law enforcement first, then us.
3.2 What we do when a report is filed
- Automatic snooze of the reported buddy's message-sending to you (pending review).
- Human moderator reviews within [SLA — to be confirmed; target 24 hours].
- Decision: no-action / warning / pair-lockout / account suspension / permanent ban / referral to law enforcement.
- You get a "statement of reasons" per DSA Art. 17 (if EU) or an equivalent notice.
3.3 Appeals
- Every enforcement decision is appealable via appeal@chillcore.app or the in-app "Appeal" button on the notice.
- Response SLA: [to be confirmed].
- If we uphold the decision, the notice explains why in the DSA statement-of-reasons format.
- EU users have access to certified out-of-court dispute settlement bodies under DSA Art. 21; a link to the current list will be maintained here.
4. Buddy Code of Conduct
If you're paired as a buddy for another Chillcore user, you additionally agree:
- You will not use Chillcore to harass, humiliate, coerce, or emotionally abuse the person you're paired with. Ribbing and roast-mode is what you signed up for; abuse is not.
- You will not forward Chillcore messages, video confessions, or private task content outside the app to embarrass the user publicly. That's a breach of trust and likely a breach of law depending on jurisdiction.
- You will not attempt to bypass the user's safeword or crisis off-ramp. If the app has quieted, the app has quieted.
- If your buddy discloses distress to you, take it seriously. Chillcore is not therapy. Suggest they contact a real professional, or ask if you can help them do so.
5. Prohibited content — the hard "no" list
Never allowed on Chillcore, in any surface (task text, excuses, buddy messages, video confessions, notes):
- Illegal content (child sexual abuse material, non-consensual intimate imagery, terrorism content per applicable law, threats of violence, doxing);
- Hate speech — content that attacks or demeans people based on protected characteristics;
- Content promoting suicide, self-harm, eating disorders, or unsafe substance use;
- Sexual content involving minors — zero tolerance, immediate ban, mandatory NCMEC/INHOPE report where applicable;
- Non-consensual intimate imagery ("revenge porn") — immediate takedown, ban, and referral;
- Impersonation of another real person;
- Malware, phishing, spam;
- Content that violates intellectual property of others;
- Doxxing — publishing someone's private information without consent.
6. Enforcement ladder
Depending on severity, first-offense vs. repeat, and vulnerability of any affected user, we may:
- No action (report closed as non-violation);
- Notice to the sender (warning + link to this policy);
- Feature restriction (e.g., buddy messaging suspended for [X days]);
- Pair-lockout (specific buddy pair permanently unpaired);
- Account suspension (temporary);
- Permanent account ban;
- Referral to law enforcement for illegal content;
- Preservation and disclosure of records to competent authorities on valid legal process.
For illegal content (esp. CSAM, credible threats of violence, terrorism content) we act immediately, not on the ladder.
7. Transparency reporting
We commit to publishing an annual Transparency Report covering: - number of reports received (broken down by category); - number of enforcement actions taken (by type); - number of DSA Art. 17 statements of reasons issued; - law-enforcement requests received and responded to; - account-level erasures completed; - material changes to the safety filter or moderation approach.
8. Suicide, self-harm, and eating disorders — special protocol
If any Chillcore surface (in-app, notification, buddy message, task text, excuse, quit video) contains content that suggests a user or a third party is in imminent danger of suicide, self-harm, or a medical crisis, our escalation is:
- Automated: persona instantly drops to supportive tone; crisis resources shown; the specific task/thread is quieted.
- Human review within [to be confirmed], distinct from the general moderation queue.
- We do not "moderate" the user for expressing distress — we route them to help. The safety response is not disciplinary.
- Reporting to authorities: only in extreme, immediate-risk cases where a specific identifiable person is in imminent danger and we hold enough information to enable an emergency response. Standard practice: encourage the user to contact emergency services; do not act unilaterally without legal review.
- Post-event: the affected user receives a supportive follow-up (opt-in), not a T&S enforcement letter.
9. Harassment, hate speech, and defamation definitions
Harassment — repeated unwanted contact, threats, degrading content, or content designed to make a target feel unsafe, targeting an identifiable individual.
Hate speech — content that dehumanizes, attacks, or promotes violence against a person or group based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or other protected characteristics under applicable law.
Defamatory content — false statements of fact about an identifiable person that damage their reputation. Opinion, parody, and hyperbole are not defamation. Chillcore's own roasts of the user are self-directed and not defamatory. Users writing about third parties in tasks or messages may cross the line.
10. Third-party abuse handling
If someone who is not a Chillcore user contacts us to say a Chillcore user is using our platform to harass them (e.g., unwanted buddy-invite messages, threats):
- Intake: thirdparty@chillcore.app.
- Verification: we confirm the complainant's identity and evidence.
- Action: suspend the offending user's ability to invite/send to that number/email; ban if pattern of abuse.
- Right to be forgotten (for the third party): their contact info removed from our system on request.
- Law enforcement: on valid legal process.
11. Changes to these Guidelines
Material changes: 30 days' in-app + email notice. Non-material: on posting. Version history preserved on request.
