The premise
We built Chillcore for one specific person: the version of ourselves who kept postponing 3 things we actually cared about, tried every gentle productivity app, and shut them all down within a week.
You know the pattern. You install Todoist. You feel productive for 4 days organizing your setup. Then the reminders become notification-shaped noise. You mute them. Then you delete the app. Then, three weeks later, the 3 tasks are still undone.
The problem was never "I need a better to-do list." The problem was: nothing external was pushing us hard enough to overcome the internal avoidance. So we built the thing that pushes.
Chillcore is what happens when a productivity app is willing to be uncomfortable.
What we believe
- Accountability > motivation. Motivation is a feeling. Feelings run out. External structure doesn't.
- External beats internal. Willpower has a fatigue curve. Environment and systems don't. Outsource your discipline where you can.
- Guilt is a tool, not the endpoint. Every roast in Chillcore ends in a concrete next step. Guilt without direction just makes people close the app.
- Insult behavior, never identity. You are not the pattern you're stuck in. Chillcore attacks the pattern.
- Peace is the ultimate reward. Not points. Not badges. Not gamification. The signature reward in Chillcore is Earned Silence — the app going completely dark for up to 3 days. Nothing else in the productivity space offers its own absence as the prize.
- Consent is non-negotiable. Buddies don't hear anything until they Accept. Demon isn't available without 3 explicit gates. The safeword works on every surface. If we can't do it with consent, we don't do it.
What we won't do
- No ads. Ever.
- No data sales. We don't sell your task titles, your excuses, your buddy pairings, or anything else. See Privacy Policy.
- No dark patterns. No auto-charging free trials. No "cancel anytime" that requires 6 clicks and a phone call.
- No shame after paying. Once you're a customer, the app doesn't try to upsell you into more premium tiers with FOMO. What you pay for is what you get.
- No AI chatbot conversations. Chillcore is not a therapist, a friend, or a chat companion. The moment it becomes a chatbot, it stops being the strict friend and becomes another tool to procrastinate inside.
- No positive-only mode. We considered it. It got explicitly rejected. Chillcore is hardcore or it isn't Chillcore.
- No inflating results. If Chillcore doesn't work for you, please cancel and tell us why. We'd rather hear "this wasn't right for me" than have you pay us out of guilt.
Team
A small team based in Latvia. Names + photos coming when we ship v1 publicly.
We are: - Not a Silicon Valley startup. - Not funded by VCs (bootstrapped, will remain so unless funding changes what we can build honestly). - Not building this as a lifestyle brand or wellness product. - Not experts in psychology, therapy, or mental health — we point users to real professionals, we're not one of them.
We are: - People who kept postponing things we cared about, built the app that stopped it working on us, and figured other people probably had the same problem. - Committed to shipping the web app first as the real product. App Store version comes last, tamed, as a discovery funnel. - Reachable at support@chillcore.app, safety@chillcore.app, privacy@chillcore.app.
The name
Chillcore is deliberately ironic. The name is chill; the app is not.
The joke is the joke: "The app that won't let you chill." Every surface — the landing page, the notifications, the persona voices — weaponizes the contrast.
We know the name has a relaxation halo. We're aware there's a Turkish immersion-cooling company also using "Chillcore" (unrelated, different product category). We know the App Store search for "chill" surfaces mindfulness apps. That's the point — the contrast between what you expect and what you get is the first-run moment we're designing for.
If the name miscategorizes us as a meditation app in your mind, our landing copy has 2 seconds to fix that. If it doesn't fix it — try the demo or read any Cluster A blog post and see what our voice actually sounds like.
Where we're going
Right now: shipping the web PWA (chillcore.app). This is the real product. Coach + Drill Sergeant + Demon, buddy system, scaled quit-gate, Earned Silence.
Next 6 months: - Android APK (full version, sideloaded from chillcore.app) - Play Store tamed build (Coach + softened Drill Sergeant) - Persona Store IAP (Disappointed Grandma, Passive-Aggressive HR Manager, 90s Action Sergeant, Your Future Self)
Next 12 months: - App Store tamed version (Coach + softened Drill Sergeant, no Demon, no profanity) - Voice notifications ("Your conscience" caller ID) - Money-stake commitment devices (escrow partner; we never custody funds) - Student discount tier (planned Q1 2027)
We do not have plans for: - Team accountability features (this is designed for individual use) - Corporate wellness contracts - White-label versions - Enterprise sales - Lifetime pricing (recurring cost, recurring price)

Frequently asked questions
Is Chillcore VC-backed?
No. Bootstrapped. If that changes, we'll disclose it here first.
Where is Chillcore based?
Latvia. Our data is hosted in the EU (Frankfurt or Amsterdam, TBD as we finalize infrastructure). Full details: /legal/privacy.
Who owns the company?
The founders. [Legal entity to be finalized with counsel — this section will update on launch].
Is Chillcore hiring?
Not currently. If that changes, we'll announce on the blog and our (currently-quiet) social channels.
Can I invest in Chillcore?
No. We're bootstrapped and staying that way for now. This may change in the future; if it does, it'll be announced publicly, not through DMs.
Why Latvia?
Because that's where the team is. GDPR jurisdiction is EU-friendly. Data privacy protections are among the strongest in the world. And it happens to be a country where "the app that won't let you chill" is a very local kind of joke — Latvia doesn't do "manifest your best life" as an aesthetic.
